The New York Open Center, a center for holistic learning and world culture, relocated from their SOHO location to a new space in Midtown Manhattan. Gertler & Wente worked with the client to provide a space that was both in keeping with the Center’s identity, and provided for the extensive requirements of their programmatic needs. The challenge was to create an uncommon environment within a very limited budget. The new space occupies a portion of the first floor, the second and third floor of a new building. The entrance lobby has a café, a bookstore, and the registration department for the classes offered on the second and third floors. Green materials were used throughout.
