Shorenstein Properties asked Gertler & Wente Architects to redesign the Emory Roth lobby and to include a canopy for greater street presence. Not wanting to stray from the building's original austere modern aesthetic, we placed a closely-spaced series of backlit, slender white columns behind a new free form white curving concierge desk. A new mullion-free Pilkington glass storefront allows clear visibility back to the columns from the sidewalk. The lighting system behind the columns is on timers with presets allowing for light level changes throughout the course of the day.
