GW Architects was hired by Mount Sinai Hospital in collaboration with the Dubin Breast Center to convert an existing underutilized staff locker area into a new state-of-the-art Breast Surgery Pre-Op & Post-Op Area on the 7th floor of the Guggenheim Pavilion. This new suite consists of 5 enclosed bays, a front reception desk area, a dedicated large ADA accessible patient toilet and a centrally located nursing station with and connected medicine/supplies alcove. The final design finishes are intended to invoke a relaxing and calming experience. Since the space has no exterior windows, GW designed glass walls and intimate lighting to give the space an increased open feeling, while introducing strong accent colors and natural wood wallcoverings.
