The Intra-Operative MRI is a specialty procedure operating room at Cornell Presbyterian Hospital. The project entailed the modification of an existing OR to accommodate one of the first portable MRI machines used exclusively for neurosurgery in the country. The modification required the installation of special radio frequency shielding, filtering, and a security system tied into metal detectors for patient protection. Further complicating the project was the requirement that the surrounding OR suite remain operational during construction.
